Prof. Dr. Arnd Huchzermeier

WHU Otto Beisheim School of Management

Arnd Huchzermeier is Chaired Professor in Production Management and Director of the Center for Collaborative Commerce at WHU’s Otto Beisheim School of Management, Germany. Before joining WHU in 1993, he was a faculty member of the Booth Graduate School of Business of the University of Chicago.

Prof. Huchzermeier received a joint master degree in Business Administration as well as Computer Science and Operations Research from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany and a Ph.D. degree in Operations Management from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, U.S.  His current research focuses on management quality and industrial excellence, sustainability, collaboration approaches between retailers and manufacturers with a strong focus on promotion planning and information sharing along the value chain, global supply chain and risk management, and real options for R&D projects and the evaluation of capacity options.

Professor Huchzermeier teaches in MBA and Executive Education Programs on Supply Chain Management. He has received numerous awards for his research on operational hedging, the introduction of the Euro, direct marketing optimization, options on capacity and promotion planning. His research has been published in leading journals, includingManagement ScienceMarketing ScienceOperations ResearchManufacturing & Service Operations Management andHarvard Business Review. His research on the euro introduction was featured, among others, on the front pages ofFinancial Times and The Wall Street Journal. Prof. Huchzermeier holds Senior Editor Positions of Production and Operations Management in the area of Supply Chain Management and OM-Marketing Interface.
