Peeter Verlegh is Professor of Marketing and Head of the Marketing department at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He holds a PhD in Marketing from Wageningen University. Peeter studies the roles of interpersonal, social and cultural influences on consumer behavior and marketing communication, with a particular interest in word of mouth – both face to face and online (social media). His research was published among others in Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Consumer Psychology, International Journal of Research in Marketing, Journal of Interactive Marketing, Journal of International Business Studies, and Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science. He is a member of the editorial boards of International Journal of Research in Marketing, Journal of Advertising and International Journal of Advertising, and has been on the faculty at RSM Erasmus University Rotterdam (2000-2011) and University of Amsterdam (2011-2014). Peeter teaches or has taught consumer behavior, marketing communication and branding in BSc, MSc and MBA programs. He has guest lectured at Skolkovo School of Management in Moscow, ESADE Business School in Barcelona, and Prague School of Economics, and is the Suarez-style center forward of VVSNV United (a pretty well-known Dutch indoor soccerteam).
